Classic, spray, and garden-style Ecuadorian roses: a wholesale guide
Which Ecuadorian rose format fits your customer brief?
With roses, format matters alongside cultivar and color. Stem structure and bloom form affect design use, pack, handling, labor, and landed cost. Choosing the wrong format can miss the customer’s brief; none guarantees a particular margin.
Building a wholesale order? Compare the format, specification, and handling needs.
Format 1. Classic roses
Description: One primary bloom on one stem. This familiar format works across many retail and event programs.
Specifications to confirm:
- Stem length: confirm by cultivar and grade
- Bloom size: confirm the farm’s measurement and grade
- Petal count: cultivar-dependent
- Vase life: test under defined handling conditions
Common applications:
- Mono-variety bouquets
- Bridal bouquets
- Ceremony arches and focal installations
- Classic mixed bouquets
- Corporate arrangements
Buying note: Classic roses are a core category for many businesses, but the right share and stem-length mix must come from your own sales data and customer briefs.
Format 2. Spray roses
Description: One branching stem carries multiple blooms or buds, adding texture and volume with a different stem count from classic roses.
Specifications to confirm:
- Stem length: confirm by cultivar and grade
- Open blooms and buds per stem: confirm the farm tolerance
- Bloom size: confirm by cultivar and grade
- Vase life: test under defined handling conditions
Common applications:
- Textured, airy bouquets
- Cascading wedding designs
- Photo backdrops and arches where branching stems support visual coverage
- Value-led designs where the recipe is costed by the actual bunch and usable bloom count
Buying note: Spray roses can create texture efficiently, especially in naturalistic work. Cost the design from the current pack and usable stems rather than a fixed equivalence with classic roses.
Format 3. Garden-style roses
Description: Roses selected for a cupped, rosette, or peony-like opening. Price and performance vary widely by cultivar and grower.
Specifications to confirm:
- Stem length: confirm by cultivar and grade
- Open bloom size: confirm the farm’s method and tolerance
- Petal count and opening form: cultivar-dependent
- Vase life and opening speed: test under the intended conditions
Common applications:
- Premium bouquets priced from current local costs, not a fixed ruble benchmark
- Bridal bouquets and romantic design briefs
- Editorial shoots and interior floral styling
- Custom event and gifting orders
Buying note: Garden-style roses may require closer cut-stage, temperature, and opening management. Model waste and labor with your own trials; do not assume higher margin.

How your order reaches you
Ecualand coordinates wholesale flower sourcing and logistics for its clients.
What Ecualand covers
We source from partner farms, coordinate the pre-shipment quality checks and the export documentation, and fly the order to the airport agreed with you.
What you cover
You collect the order at that airport and arrange onward transport to your own warehouse. Import clearance, duties and taxes sit with you or with the agent you appoint.
- Amsterdam: consolidated departures on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. The flight is direct. Orders start at one box.
- Direct flights to other airports: from 100 kg, which is roughly four to five boxes, or 1,200 to 1,500 stems.
- Lead time: at least one week, so the prepayment clears and the airfreight space is booked. For Valentine’s Day and International Women’s Day, order from December.
- Freight: can be included when the order flies with us; otherwise the buyer arranges and pays it.
- Payment: prepayment, quoted per order in US dollars.
Tell us which airport suits you and an account manager will confirm the route, the booking window and the current price list.
